Parking

Parking is available on Battery Point streets. Time limits apply on many streets between 8:30 am and 6 pm daily but there are some all day spots within easy walking. They fill up quickly each day so ask about the best places.

Paid parking is available close by. Just ask and we will let you know about the options.

Medical

Medical facilities are close by. There are general practice surgeries around Battery Point and after hours clinics further afield.

The Hobart Private Hospital runs a 24 hour emergency department that charges a facilities fee. The public Royal Hobart Hospital has a free emergency department but they are often very busy.

In a medical emergency, paramedics are just a 000 call away.

Emergencies

Ring 000 and ask for ambulance, police or fire. Tasmania has highly professional police officers, paramedics and fire fighters. In an emergency, do not hesitate to call them.

For non-urgent calls, Tasmania Police can be contacted on 131 444. TTY users should phone 133 677 and ask for 131 444.

Around about

There are three large beautiful parks within minutes, including the Boat Park which has a fantastic children’s play area overlooking the Derwent River.

You are only a few doors from a post office and newsagent, corner store, a really good bakery, restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs. Groceries and supermarkets are within walking distance. You can find more information here.

Your host

We live in the apartment upstairs, close enough to be convenient if you need assistance, but with very separate access to maintain your privacy.

We are happy to help with any advice or information, but otherwise will leave you to explore and enjoy.

Disabled access

There is single step access to Pretoria House.

Although it is on the ground floor, the apartment isn’t really suitable for a full size wheelchair. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
